The Benefits and Challenges of Being Highly Intuitive

In one of my first Medium blogs I posted, I wrote about my very first memorable experience with sleep paralysis. I have to start here because I believe this is where it all began. I was about 6 years old when I had a very vivid dream of my mother standing in our driveway with the sun shining so bright it was blinding me. I walked towards her using her shining blonde hair as my guiding light. When I finally approached her, she leaned down and and whispered in my ear in Spanish, “Only you can see me now.” I recall trying to wake up but couldn’t move. I struggled for what felt like an eternity and when I finally was able to breakthrough the constraints of my deep, paralyzing sleep, I was terrified, not only about not knowing what just happened to me but also I felt a sense of dread and fear that I would lose my mother, I didn’t know when or how. I am not sure if there is a connection between sleep paralysis and being highly intuitive. Based on this early experience, I believe it was the beginning of what has been an ever emerging journey of allowing my intuition to guide me through some of my major life experiences.

I lost my mother suddenly at 20 years old, just 14 years after that frighteningly odd yet telling dream. Through the years after her passing, this sixth sense has manifested not only through my dreams but through lucid daydreaming as well as…
